🏔️🎃 Appalachian Region Weekly Update
Week of October 25 – October 31, 2026
🦇 Halloween Week Edition 🕸️
Greetings, Pathfinders and Starfinders! It’s Halloween week across the region, with games running in five of our six states, a brand-new venue starting up near Raleigh, and the Rocky Horror Picture Show waiting in Atlanta on Saturday night. Costumes are encouraged at every table. 👻
🚨 Venture-Officer Openings
Officer coverage is still our biggest need. When there aren’t enough officers, scheduling gets erratic as the ones we have get stretched past what’s reasonable, and in the worst case a lodge has to scale back its footprint. The same shortage also limits how many conventions and acquisition events we can staff.
- 🔴 Chattanooga, TN: The lodge cannot become active again without at least one officer. We’re still seeking a VO to help rebuild it. Contact rvcapparegionop@gmail.com.
- 🔴 Atlanta, GA: Level-Up Games Johns Creek is the one venue without a dedicated officer.
- 🟡 Charleston, WV: We’re exploring a possible new lodge here, motivated by the turnout we’ve seen and by not wanting to overtax the Morgantown and Vienna officers if Charleston proves too far a drive to cover reliably. If you’re interested in helping build it, reach out!
🆕 New Venue Near Raleigh
The Perch, Holly Springs, NC is now hosting weekly Starfinder Society games on Fridays. The store owner first reached out to the Raleigh lodge back in March, before the store opened, and has recently called for GMs to get games started. A big thank-you to Wayne W. for supporting the launch, and to the Raleigh-area community members who volunteered to GM. Details are in the Raleigh lodge’s Discord, in the Starfinder2e channel. Come say hello and help the new venue get off the ground!
🔧 Atlanta’s Virtual Starfinder Games Moving to Foundry
Because of a performance issue with Fantasy Grounds Unity, AtlantaPFS’s virtual Starfinder Society (SFS2) games are moving to Foundry VTT on a game-by-game basis for the time being. Monday’s game runs on Foundry, while Thursday’s is currently listed on Fantasy Grounds Unity and may move depending on what we hear. Fantasy Grounds support has been contacted and is aware of the issue. They’ve found memory leaks in their application that will require a patch. We don’t have a timeline yet and will share more as we hear it. Sign-ups work the same as always through Warhorn.
📢 The State of Organized Play
Paizo’s Organized Play Infinite Sanctioning & Announcements blog from September 21st continues to guide our community:
- Pathfinder Society is not ending. Monthly PFS2 scenario releases wrapped up with #8-07: In the Halls of Dead Justice and #8-08: Treatise on the Study of Clockwork, both released October 7.
- Going forward, regular PFS content comes from Paizo Printables, which begins its spooky Creep Season this October with adventures sized like a current PFS scenario. Paizo plans to wrap that storyline early next year, and has announced a hardcover PFS adventure anthology for 2028.
- Fan-created scenarios can now be sanctioned through Infinite, open since September 21.
- Starfinder Society continues unaffected.
From Paizo’s October Organized Play Monthly Update:
- Starfinder Society Scenario #2-08: Murder on the Tourmaline Comet releases November 4.
- Pathfinder Lost Omens: Cheliax, Infernal Inheritance is now sanctioned for Pathfinder Society play, and sanctioning for Starfinder Tech Core has been posted.
We’ll pass along solid information as it firms up. What’s certain: this community across all six states isn’t going anywhere.
📈 Regional Growth Snapshot — Q3 2026 vs. Q2 2026
Quarterly reporting for Q3 is in. Here is how the region compared to the previous quarter, shown as percentage change only.

By State
| State | Retail PFS2 | Retail SFS2 | Retail SFS1 | Unique GMs | Unique Players | New Players |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Georgia | -58% | -9% | -100% | -36% | -42% | -14% |
| North Carolina | -7% | -8% | — | +4% | -7% | +33% |
| South Carolina | -32% | -61% | — | -31% | -50% | -82% |

| Virginia | -10% | -56% | — | 0% | -19% | +200% |
| West Virginia | — | — | — | — | — | +40% |
— means no change could be measured (no activity reported in either quarter). Covers retail, virtual, and acquisition-event reporting received to date (events under 15 tables count as acquisition events and are folded into regular numbers). Larger convention data is reported directly to Paizo and is not included. Q4 began October 1 and is excluded until it wraps up. These numbers shift with summer schedules, venue changes and reports still arriving, so we read them as a trend to watch rather than a verdict.
