Appalachian Region Weekly Update – June 7–13, 2026

Appalachian Region Weekly Update

Week of June 7–13, 2026

📋 This Week at a Glance

Greetings, Pathfinders and Starfinders — and Happy Pride Month! 🏳️‍🌈 June is a reminder that our tables are for everyone, and we’re glad to say so plainly. More on that below.

This week: 13 scheduled games across Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, and Tennessee — physical and virtual — spanning Sunday through Saturday. The Palmetto Lodge has a particularly full week with three sessions across two venues. Richmond has two tables running Saturday at Battlegrounds RVA. And AtlantaPFS brings two sold-out Saturday sessions in the Atlanta area.

Big news from Paizo this week: the generic Starfinder adventure sanctioning document is live, and several Pathfinder adventures have received sanctioning — all repeatable. Details below. DragonCon recruiting remains open and urgent. The Appalachian Region Mastodon account is now live. And Venture-Officer openings in Chattanooga and Charleston, WV remain unfilled.

📢 Regional Announcements & Opportunities

🏳️‍🌈 Happy Pride Month from the Appalachian Region!

June is Pride Month, and we want to say it clearly: LGBTQ+ players, GMs, and community members are welcome at every table in this region. Pathfinder and Starfinder Society organized play is a space for everyone — that’s not a policy footnote, it’s who we are.

Whether you’re joining organized play for the first time this month or you’ve been rolling dice with us for years — we’re glad you’re here. 🏳️‍🌈⚔️

📜 Organized Play Sanctioning Update – Big News from Paizo

In case you missed the May Organized Play Monthly Update, Paizo has made some significant sanctioning announcements:

Starfinder Society: A generic adventure sanctioning document is now available. This single document covers player and GM credit for any Paizo-published Starfinder adventure — adventure paths, playtest scenarios, and other releases — unless Paizo specifically states otherwise. You won’t find it on every product page, but you can assume sanctioning applies.

Pathfinder Society: Sanctioning documents are now available for the Hellbreakers Adventure Path, the Season of Ghosts compilation, Secrets of the Unlit Star, and Paizo Printables adventures. All of these are repeatable — and Paizo has signaled that going forward, sanctioned adventures will be repeatable as a standard, with scenarios to follow later this year.

📣 Appalachian Region Is Now on Mastodon!

The Appalachian Region Mastodon account is live: @apparvc@dice.campAppalachian Region PFS/SFS. Give us a follow if you’re on the fediverse! The account is manually maintained, so posts will appear as time allows rather than on an automated schedule.

🚨 Venture-Officer Openings: Chattanooga, TN and Charleston, WV — We Still Need You

These two openings remain unfilled. The region cannot build what it needs in these communities without local leadership. If you have been thinking about stepping up, this is the moment.

Chattanooga, TN — Existing Lodge, Needs a Leader
The Venture-Lieutenant overseeing the Chattanooga lodge has stepped down. There is already a player community here — games have happened, the infrastructure exists. What is missing is someone to take ownership: scheduling games, keeping the community connected, and being the local face of organized play. If you are in the Chattanooga area and love Pathfinder or Starfinder Society, this lodge needs you.

Charleston, WV — Ground Floor Opportunity
We are working to establish a new lodge in Charleston. CharCon is July 10–12 at The Clay Center — a PFS/SFS presence there this year is unlikely without local leadership already in place, but a lodge with roots in Charleston is exactly what makes convention support possible in future years. If you are willing to be the person who builds organized play in West Virginia’s capital city, reach out now.

What being a Venture-Officer actually involves: scheduling games at a local venue, welcoming new players, keeping the lodge’s Warhorn page current, and being a point of contact for the region. You do not need to be an expert. You need to show up and care. The VO Handbook covers everything else.

🎯 Lodges That Need You at the Table

The single most important thing you can do for organized play in this region is show up regularly and occasionally run a game. These lodges need that from you right now:

  • Mebane, NC — Tables are running but attendance is inconsistent and GM support is thin. If you are in the Triangle or Triad area, this lodge needs warm bodies in chairs.
  • Charlotte, NC — One of the largest metros in the region with significant room to grow. Con Carolinas just gave Piedmont Roleplaying Society a public presence — now is the time to build on that momentum at regular game days.
  • Memphis, TN — Western Tennessee needs both players and GMs to keep Society play alive in the area.
  • Nashville, TN — Strong existing interest, real potential. The schedule could be bigger with more GMs willing to step behind the screen.

If you are near any of these cities, reach out through the Lodge Directory or email rvcapparegionop@gmail.com to get connected.

🐉 DragonCon 2026 — Under 90 Days — GM and HQ Volunteers: Sign Up Now

September 3–7, 2026 — AmericasMart Building 3, Atlanta, GA

DragonCon is the Premier Paizo Organized Play event in the Appalachian Region. Five days. Thousands of attendees. One of the biggest stages in the country to showcase what Pathfinder and Starfinder Society can be. The entire scope of what we can offer — how many tables we run, which specials we put on, how good the experience is for every new player who walks in — is determined right now, by who volunteers.

If you wait until August to volunteer, you will have worse time slots, less influence over the schedule, and a harder experience for everyone. The GMs and HQ staff who sign up early shape DragonCon. Do not leave that to someone else.

  • Early sign-ups get first pick of time slots — run what you want, when you want.
  • Every table you run may be a player’s very first Society game. Make it count.
  • HQ and operations volunteers are the backbone of the whole event: check-in, GM support, slot coordination. Unglamorous work that makes everything else possible.
  • You will be part of a well-run regional team with experienced convention leadership behind you.

The DragonCon 2026 Volunteer Form is open right now. Fill it out. Even a few slots makes a difference. Questions? Email rvcapparegionop@gmail.com.

🎉 Morgantown, WV – Now Open at Wyvern’s Wargames!

The Morgantown lodge restart is underway. Learn to Play sessions have been running through May and regular Pathfinder and Starfinder Society play is now launching at Wyvern’s Wargames (200 Pinecrest Plaza, Suite 205, Morgantown, WV). If you are in or near Morgantown and want to get involved as a player, GM, or Venture-Officer, reach out through the Appalachian Region Hub or email rvcapparegionop@gmail.com.

🎪 Upcoming Conventions – Next 90 Days

The Regional & National Calendar tracks conventions and game days across the six-state region. If you are interested in volunteering at any of these events, contact the hosting lodge or email rvcapparegionop@gmail.com.

🏛️ Origins Game Fair – Columbus, OH

Dates: June 17–21, 2026

📚 Free RPG Day – June 27, 2026

Date: Saturday, June 27, 2026
Where: Participating local game stores nationwide
Website: freerpgday.com/gamers

Three weeks out. If you are planning around Free RPG Day, check the store locator now — stores must order kits in advance, and if your FLGS does not appear on the locator, they are not a participating venue this year. Free RPG Day content may only be run on the day itself at a participating venue, or one month later once it clears for general use.

🎲 CharCon – Charleston, WV

Dates: July 10–12, 2026
Venue: The Clay Center — Charleston, WV
Website: charcon.org

A PFS/SFS presence at CharCon this year is unlikely without a Charleston-area VO stepping up now. This is exactly why the Charleston recruitment matters — a lodge rooted locally is what makes future convention support possible. If you are in or near Charleston, this is the moment. Email rvcapparegionop@gmail.com.

🎲 Gen Con – Indianapolis, IN

Dates: July 30 – August 2, 2026
Venue: Indiana Convention Center — Indianapolis, IN

🎯 Looking Ahead

Origins is next week (June 17–21). Free RPG Day is June 27 — check the store locator if you are planning around it. CharCon is July 10–12 and needs Charleston-area leadership to have any shot at organized play support. Gen Con and Southern-Fried Gaming Expo land at the end of July. DragonCon is under 90 days out and recruiting now.

The VO openings in Chattanooga and Charleston are not abstract needs — they are communities that will stagnate without someone stepping up. If that someone is you, reach out today.

Lodge leadership and VOs: If your lodge has news, milestones, or events to share in a future regional update, email rvcapparegionop@gmail.com. The more you share, the better we can spotlight what is happening across the region.

Roll well, Pathfinders and Starfinders. See you at the tables. ⚔️🌟
