Appalachian Region Weekly Update
Week of April 20–26, 2026
🎲 Late-April Energy Across the Region
Greetings, Pathfinders and Starfinders! The last weekend of April is turning into a busy one across the Appalachian Region, with multiple conventions in full swing, nearly forty scheduled Society games, and big plans for the summer and fall.
This week, we want to thank everyone who has come out so far for Fun K‑Town and Keep‑A‑Con, spotlight the conventions still running through Sunday, highlight upcoming events on the Regional & National Calendar, celebrate a couple of big lodge milestones, and talk about how you can help grow organized play in Chattanooga, TN, Charleston, WV, and other lodges that especially need players and GMs. We will also start beating the drum hard for DragonCon 2026, the Premier Paizo Organized Play event in the Appalachian Region.

🌐 Regional Hub Website Updates – Calendar, Lodge Directory, and State Pages
We have been hard at work improving the Appalachian OP Regional Hub so it is easier to see what is happening across our six‑state region and how to get involved.
Updated Regional & National Calendar: The Regional and National Calendar has been updated and improved to make it easier to find conventions, special events, and regular game days, with better filtering and clearer listings.
Updated Lodge Directory: The Lodge Directory has been refreshed to better highlight where lodges are located, how to contact them, and where they run games. This is a great first stop if you are looking for a local community or planning a gaming road trip.
Improved State Pages: Each state page has been updated and improved, with more information about local lodges, venues, and contact points. Some of this is still a work in progress, but you can already see the new structure and content here:
As we continue to refine these pages, feedback is welcome—if you see something missing or out of date for your local area, let your lodge leadership or the RVC know.
📍 Growing the Map – Charleston, WV, Chattanooga, TN, and Lodges That Need You
The Appalachian Region continues to grow, and with that growth comes new leadership and player needs in key areas.
Charleston, WV – New Lodge Start-Up: We are actively recruiting to start up a lodge in the Charleston, West Virginia area. If you live near Charleston—or can travel regularly—and are interested in helping build a new community from the ground up, please reach out to the Regional Venture‑Coordinator.
Chattanooga, TN – Venture‑Officer Recruiting: The Venture‑Lieutenant overseeing the Chattanooga lodge has stepped down. We are looking for new Venture‑Officers in the Chattanooga area to support local game days, coordinate with venues, and help keep Society play visible and accessible.
Lodges that especially need regular players and GMs:
- Mebane, NC
- Charlotte, NC
- Memphis, TN
We are always recruiting players and GMs at all of our lodges, but if you are near any of the locations above—or willing to make an occasional road trip—your participation can make a real difference in keeping tables firing and growing the local community.
If you are interested in helping as a player, GM, or potential Venture‑Officer in any of these areas, please contact your local lodge leadership or email the Regional Venture‑Coordinator at rvcapparegionop@gmail.com.
🌱 Lodge Milestones – Statesboro, GA and Morgantown, WV
Statesboro, GA – First PFS2 Game! The Statesboro, Georgia lodge held their first Pathfinder Society Second Edition game this weekend. Congratulations to the local team and players on getting things started—this is a big first step, and we are looking forward to bigger and better things from Statesboro as they continue to grow, including some possible interest in nearby Savannah.
Morgantown, WV – Reopening with Learn‑to‑Play Sessions: The Morgantown, West Virginia lodge will be reopening and offering learn‑to‑play sessions in May at Wyvern’s Wargames, with plans to begin offering regular Pathfinder and Starfinder Society games at the venue in June. If you are in or near Morgantown, this is a great time to jump in, help rebuild the lodge, and bring new players into the campaign.
🐉 DragonCon 2026 – Premier Event for the Appalachian Region
DragonCon – Atlanta, GA
September 2–6, 2026 • AmericasMart Building 3 and surrounding venues
Website: dragoncon.org
DragonCon is one of the largest conventions in our region and the Premier Paizo Organized Play event in the Appalachian Region. It is five days of gaming, thousands of attendees, and one of the biggest stages we have to showcase Pathfinder and Starfinder Society.
We are past “it would be nice if you volunteered.” We need a strong team of experienced GMs and HQ/operations volunteers, and we need them early. The scope of what we can offer at DragonCon—the number of tables, the variety of systems, and the special events we can run—depends directly on how many people step up to help.
Why DragonCon volunteering matters:
- Regional impact: DragonCon is the place where many players encounter Society play for the first time, and they are coming from all over the Appalachian Region and beyond.
- Big shows need big teams: HQ/ops volunteers keep the entire operation running—check‑in, slot coordination, answering questions, and supporting GMs.
- GMs shape the experience: Every table you run is a chance to welcome new players, showcase the campaign, and build connections that last past the convention.
If you have ever thought about volunteering at a large show, this is your chance to be part of a big, well‑coordinated regional team. If you are interested in helping at DragonCon in any capacity, please email rvcapparegionop@gmail.com and we will connect you with the convention leadership.
🎪 Regional & National Calendar – Upcoming Conventions
The Regional & National Calendar tracks regular game days, conventions within the Appalachian Region, and national/international events of interest. Below is a snapshot of upcoming conventions with Paizo Organized Play presence. 🎯 Looking Ahead
From Fun K‑Town, Keep‑A‑Con, and RavenCon this weekend to Richmond Open next weekend and a convention‑packed May and July, the Appalachian Region calendar is filling up fast. At the same time, we are working to grow new communities in places like Charleston and Chattanooga and to support lodges that need more regular players and GMs.
As you look at your own schedule, consider where you can make the biggest impact—whether that is GMing a slot at a local lodge, helping at a charity convention, stepping into a Venture‑Officer role, or joining the volunteer team for DragonCon. Every table you run and every event you support helps keep this region vibrant and welcoming.
Lodge leadership: If you have news, achievements, local milestones, or special events you would like featured in a future regional update, please email rvcapparegionop@gmail.com or message the RVC on Discord. The more you share, the easier it is to spotlight the great things happening in your lodge.
See you at the tables, Pathfinders and Starfinders. May your travels across the Appalachian Region be full of good stories, good company, and very few critical fumbles.
Roll well, friends! ⚔️🌟
